Croydon Integrated Youth Support Service is looking to elect four young people for UK Youth Parliament: two Members of Youth Parliament; and two deputies to represent young people in Croydon at a regional and national level and work with Croydon's Youth Council.
The UK Youth Parliament has 600 elected MYPs (Members of Youth Parliament) aged 11-18. MYPs are elected in annual youth elections throughout the UK. Any young person aged 11-18 can stand or vote. In the past two years, one million young people have voted in UK Youth Parliament elections.
Once elected, MYPs organise events and projects, run campaigns, and influence decision makers on the issues which matter most to young people. All MYPs meet once a year at the UK Youth Parliament Annual Sitting.
Voting to elect the Croydon MYPs commences on Monday 7th February in locations across Croydon, Oasis Academy Shirley Park being one of the polling stations. Students will be able to view candidates' manifestos and speeches, delivered via our Plasma screen and during Progress Mentor time, prior to casting their votes. The deadline for votes is Tuesday 15th February.
We are thrilled that our Head Girl from last year, Melissa Owusu, is standing for parliament. We remain impartial, but would like to point out that Melissa is an extremely worthy candidate who led the school with great professionalism and dignity during her tenure as Head Girl and she would be a very worthy Member of Youth Parliament! But, of course, we are impartial!
Good luck to all of the candidates.
Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
