Nyasha - our University success story in Zimbabwe

Here, we get an update on Nyasha's first term at Uni!

How have you found going back to studying?

It was nice, hard to wake up in the mornings though!

What modules have you studied?

Introduction to Poitical Science, Poitical Theory, Research Methods, Constitutional Law and Politics, Public Administration (all year-long modules)  Communication Skills and Information, Learning &Literacy (both ended at Christmas).

What did you enjoy most?

All of them!

What do you find hardest?

Research methods

Which did you sit exams for?

Communication Skills and Information, Learning &Literacy - I sat these exams in December and get my results this month (January).

How many lectures do you have per week?

I have lectures and tutorials every day 5 days per week, in my breaks I go to the library.

Where are you living?

I live in Avondale, (a middle-income suburb of Harare), in a flat with my friend Rudo from church.

How are you supporting yourself?

I have a $50 allowance from Oasis per month for my living expenses.

How long does it take you to get to university from home?

It is a 20minute walk to the combies (minibus taxis), then a 10minute combie ride to campus.

How do you think being at university has changed you so far?

It has helped me to grow in life skills and confidence, taking responsibility, and maturity.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I like to read, watch TV, listen to music.
