Our Debate Maters were once again a credit to the academy as they competed in the first round of the Urban Debate League, held at The Charter School in Herne Hill.
They argued with eloquence and intelligence (mid-strategy picture opposite), getting only narrowly beaten by Brixton's Evelyn Grace Academy in the unseen motion 'This house supports a curfew of 8pm for all young people under 16', but storming to victory on the pre-prepared motion 'This house would legalise euthanasia', winning points that put them in an excellent position for the forthcoming rounds in March and June.
There are still places available at our weekly clubs, which are run by university mentors Carlo and Tom on Mondays from 3.30 to 4.30 pm in room 106; we especially need students from Years 8 and 10.
The following students should be congratulated for their excellent performance: Michael Beeson; Oshane McLean; Desree Adeola; Rhianne Forrest; and Sophia Hill. Well done guys; we really wouldn't want to get into an argument with you!
