Behaviour & Rewards - Primary
All members of the Academy community are expected to behave towards one another in a polite, caring and respectful manner, showing consideration for one another’s feelings.
Our emphasis is on rewarding positive behaviour, however, an important aspect of our partnership with parents/carers is informing them if their child’s behaviour is unacceptable and sharing responsibility for that behaviour.
We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all our pupils and students so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying of any kind is unacceptable at our Academy, whether it is in the Academy or on off-site activities. If bullying does occur, all pupils and students should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. We are a TELLING Academy. This means that anyone who knows that bullying is happening is expected to tell the staff. We are working with the anti-bullying alliance to ensure that we are at the forefront of educational thinking when it comes to preventing and dealing with issues of bullying.
In the Primary phase the Golden Rules were decided by the School Council, to help ensure that we continue to maintain high standards of behaviour.
Kindness: We help one another
Happiness: We always try to be positive
Self-control: We make the right choices
Honesty: We are trustworthy
Patience: We wait calmly
Perseverance: We try hard and never give up!
Children have chosen their two adults, to whom they can talk to at school if they need help. In Nursery classes, these adults are those in the setting. For children in Reception upwards, these adults could be a teacher, a member of support staff, a member of the office team etc.
One theme evident in all research is that schools are much more effective in dealing with issues if parents engage with the school, so that we can all work in the best interests of the child.
