Behaviour & Rewards - Primary
Our emphasis is on rewarding positive behaviour, however, an important aspect of our partnership with parents/carers is informing them if their child’s behaviour is unacceptable and sharing responsibility for that behaviour. Where required, appropriate consequences and restorative justice measures are also put in place.
We are committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all our pupils and students so they can learn in a relaxed and secure atmosphere. Bullying and discrimination of any kind is unacceptable at our Academy, whether it is in the Academy or on off-site activities.
If bullying or discrimination does occur, all pupils and students should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly and effectively. We are a TELLING Academy. This means that anyone who knows that bullying or discrimination is happening is expected to tell the staff. We are working with the anti-bullying alliance to ensure that we are at the forefront of educational thinking when it comes to preventing and dealing with issues of bullying.
In the Primary phase we acknowledge and reward positive behaviour choices through the lens of our 9 Oasis habits. Through following these we strive to ensure that we continue to maintain high standards of behaviour.
Every child in our school has chosen their two safe adults, to whom they can talk to at school if they need help. In the younger Year groups, these adults are those in the setting. However, from Year 3 upwards children choose their safe adults for themselves. These adults could be a teacher, a member of support staff, a member of the office team etc.
One theme evident in all research is that schools are much more effective in dealing with issues if parents engage with the school, so that we can all work together in the best interests of the child.
