Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Community Hub

We offer opportunities for extended learning beyond the core Academy day. Our extended provision through our Hub team is at the centre of our community work. The team deliver a wide range of services which engage public, voluntary and business sectors in the establishment of a centre of education and lifelong learning. We aspire for the Academy to be at the heart of our local community, recognised by others for our clear understanding and support of local issues and awareness of community needs.

At Oasis we recognise that people are not two-dimensional beings; we are each a whole person with a broad range of aspirations and needs and these needs are interconnected. To truly help someone with their educational needs, it is vital to also be aware of their emotional needs, spiritual needs and economic needs.

As such, we believe in communities that are holistic, interconnected and totally inclusive. We call our model for these communities ‘Hub.’ Watch the video above to learn more about our vision for hub.

Oasis Academy Shirley Park is part of Oasis Hub, Ashburton Park.  As well as the all-through academy, the hub runs a variety of services for the community including a Foyer for homeless young people, a youth club and a community Church.  By ensuring that all these services are joined up and rooted in same ethos we want to see the entire community transformed for the better.

Food Bank

Our Oasis Essentials Foodbank is situated at our middle school. Families can contact Mrs Saundercock in the Middle School Office to arrange a time to visit. We are always looking for donations of non-perishable items such as tins, pasta, rice, teabags, cereals, sanitary wear and other toiletries.

Donations can be handed in to any school office.

Gardening Club

The Shirley Park Gardening Club is a chance for students, parents and community members to come together to learn how to grow vegetables and fruit.

It takes place on Thursdays from 3.30 - 4.30pm at the secondary phase. We are also hoping to use the garden for lesson times and supporting teachers to see how the garden can be used to support curriculum outcomes.

Please contact Helen Ottley on Helen.Ottley@oasisshirleypark.org if you’re interested in being involved.

Warm Spaces

We have opened a new warm space cafe at our Upper School, designed to give people somewhere free to go and interact with others. There will be things for people to do, refreshments will be offered, and Wi-Fi will be free.

Address: Oasis Academy Shirley Park Upper School and Sixth Form, Shirley Road, Croydon, CR9 7AL

The warm space will be open on weekdays (apart from Wednesdays) from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm.
