Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Black History Month

Primary

During black history month, children and staff have been looking into the lives of inspiration people around the world but also those close to home. Linking to this year’s theme, ‘Reclaiming Narratives’, children investigated how many people, who some thought would amount to nothing, are shining their light being the best them they can be and owning their field of expertise.

Every week, each year group looks at a different person, looking at the impact they have had on others lives as a whole. This could be impacting the culture, the economy, politically or even socially. From Mansa Musa to Michael Dapaah, from Alma Thomas to Serlina Boyd, children have been exposed to vital black figures across the ages that help to shape the world we live in today.
