Our Long Lane Campus houses our Pre-Nursery and Nursery and Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. This single-storey building with a central quadrangle was erected in 1928 and has seen many changes of school name over the years, becoming Oasis Academy Shirley Park in 2009. In the centre of quadrangle is a garden with play equipment which is used by the Nursery children.
Our Pre-Nursery (for children from the term of their 3rd birthday) and Nursery provision, for children aged 3-4 (the year before they start Reception), is based at the Long Lane Campus. This setting provides our youngest students with safe and secure, beautiful learning, social, and play facilities.
Free Nursery Places
Free nursery places are available for up to 78 children through the Government's early years funding scheme. Our Nursery provides the perfect introduction to learning and gives children confidence and skills to transfer seamlessly to our Primary Phase Reception class (Application required). The Nursery has morning and afternoon classes with 26 part-time places available in each session and the Pre-Nursery (Little Acorns & Little Conkers) has 13 places available in the morning 8:30am – 11:30am and afternoon 12.30pm - 3.30pm.
When your child turns 3 in the 2018/19 academic year, they are eligible to attend our Pre-Nursery (Little Acorns & Little Conkers) the term after their 3rd birthday and for children whose date of birth is between 1st September 2015 and 31st August 2016 they would be able to start Nursery in September 2019 subject to spaces being available. For more information about applications please visit our admissions page.
Children make Outstanding Progress in the Early Years Foundation Stage because, by the end of their time in the Nursery, attainment is far higher than expected given their very low starting points.
