Exceptional Education at the Heart of the Community

Courses We offer

The majority of our students will follow a course comprising three AS subjects. These subjects are chosen from the wide range on offer listed below. Some of the subjects will be familiar from GCSE and some, Psychology for example, will be new. Additionally, students will follow a tutor programme, which aims to develop key character traits such as initiative, leadership and resilience. The programme will also support students in making the right academic choices so they continue on the appropriate pathway after sixth form, whether that be into university, an apprenticeship, or directly into work. At the end of Year 12, students will sit AS exams for the majority of their subjects and then continue into Year 13.

Click on the links below for subject specific information. Please note courses offered are dependent on viable student numbers, so may vary from year to year. Please also see Option blocks download opposite which should be completed when sending in your application form.

Assessment and Reporting

Every student has his or her own individual learning plan which includes targets for effort, achievement, attendance and punctuality. The plan is reviewed regularly, in discussion with the student and our robust monitoring and tracking systems ensure that students know exactly the level they are working at and what they need to do in order to improve. Reports are sent home to parents regularly and there are regular opportunities throughout the year to meet the sixth form team and tutors to review progress.

Curriculum Support

Oasis Academy Shirley Park is committed to provide fully inclusive education and our team of subject specialists are supported by well qualified and experienced staff who ensure that those who need additional support or who may not have English as a first language have the support they need. Our flexible timetable can incorporate individual learning plans to those who may need it.
